Diamond Earrings – How Not to Get Ripped Off

When searching for affordable diamond earrings it is easy to get distracted by scams and deals which look too good to be true. When searching for affordable diamond earrings it pays to do the research. The most important items to remember are the four C’s: cut, color, clarity, and carat.

The first of the four C’s is the cut of the diamonds in the affordable diamond earrings. Cut refers to two different categories, the first is the shape of the diamond and the second is the quality of which it was cut. Diamond cuts have their own special names for example a princess cut is a pyramid shape with a square bottom, and an emerald cut is a longer rectangle. The quality of the cut is how sharp the angle is and how much light the cut reflects making the diamond sparkle more. When buying affordable

you can save money by buying lower quality cuts, because it is a feature that few nonprofessionals will notice. You can also try to by less common cuts because they are usually the most affordable diamond earrings. Princess cut diamonds are usually 30% more expensive than emerald cuts, making emerald diamond earring the more affordable diamond earrings.

The color is the natural tint of the diamonds. Diamonds occur naturally in nature and therefore do not always come clear. If you buy diamonds with a little bit of a yellow tint than it is much easier to find affordable diamond earrings. Conversely, diamonds full of natural color like pink and red are more expensive and should be avoided when trying to buy affordable diamond earrings.

Clarity is the number of inclusions or imperfections in your diamond earrings. Diamonds come from nature with small gas pockets these pockets reflect the light differently than the rest of the diamond. A perfectly clear diamond is very expensive so when looking to buy affordable diamond earrings a few marks inside are perfectly acceptable. Usually these marks are difficult even impossible to see by the naked eye, so they make a great way to get cheaper diamond earrings.

Carat is the size of a diamond A carat is about 200 milligrams, and each carat is broken up into 100 “points”. When buying diamonds from a reputable dealer make sure you know the difference between a carat and a point. If you see a deal that is .25 for less than 0 than it is most likely .25 points or not real diamonds. A reputable retailer will be honest with you about the size and will always write ct (the symbol for carat) or ctw/tcw (the symbols for total carat weight). When buying diamond earrings, look for the total carat weight symbol because earrings come in pairs and should have two equal size diamonds.

Angelina Jolie and Those Stunning Diamond Earrings

by on Apr.07, 2010, under Diamonds

Alright there are plenty who adore Angelina Jolie and acting talent but it seems this tomboy actress has a softer sexy side. While in one day you may see her taking a  knock to her head in an action packed movie, she never seems to lose her fashion sense because in the next minute you’ll see this “sizzling” lady wearing a beautiful gown and the most decadent diamonds. This is a woman who understands how to dress her body!
ggjolie 150x150 Angelina Jolie and Those Stunning Diamond EarringsFor example, Angelina Jolie wore her diamond and 22K gold necklace and earrings were from Bochic. She’s more beautiful than ever in this dress. The only thing I can say is that if  the white, gray and black diamonds had been set in platinum they would have had far more dramatic impact. But then again how much more impact could have we stood?

What a contrast to the interesting white dress Carrie Underwood wore that should have been in the  lingerie category but then again it’s pretty ugly for that. This is quite the opposite of the gorgeous and sexy dresses Angelina Jolie wears. It seems while others may try to follow in her footsteps without the innate fashion sense it’s a wash.

This is a woman who knows how to put it all together. If you’re looking for some fashion ideas Angelina Jolie can give you some great ideas, that is except for this latest fashion blooper.

Vintage Diamond Earrings Worn by Carey Mulligan at the Oscars

If you were one of the millions that tuned into the Oscars on television you may have seen those fabulous vintage diamond earrings that Carey Mulligan wore. They truly were to die for and not to be forgotten very soon. There is no question that these vintage Fred Leighton diamond earrings will make a statement and get noticed. These Leighton Diamond Briolette and Cascading diamond earrings were designed and made during the 19th century.oscars10 carey mulligan e1268897241331 126x150 Vintage Diamond Earrings Worn by Carey Mulligan at the Oscars

While the vintage diamonds will glitter and sparkle they aren’t quite as much bling as the modern diamond has to offer. The reason for this is technology. Vintage diamonds were cut by hand where as today’s diamonds are cut with a computer guided laser and first they are analyzed by sophisticated software to determ the best cut.

Carey Mulligan wore a Prada courture black gown which was made interesting by the addition of tiny forks, knives, and watch gears which were sewn onto the skirt and bodice. It made the choice of these bold and sophisticated vintage earrings a real interesting pick and many would have even considered it a risky combo. But Carey was not to be outdone. She was sexy, glamorous, and beautiful combining modern with vintage in a way that would be remembered for some time.
